Silver Book Under The Ten(10) Initiatives Under GLC Transformation Programme
The Silver Book together with two other initiatives were launched on Sept 25. In fact, the Silver Book is the fourth book launched by Khazanah under the GLC Transformation Programme.
- The Blue Book was first launched last year to intensify performance management practices
followed by:
- Green Book, a manual to enhance board effectiveness and
- Red Book to review and revamp procurement.
( Both Green and Red Book were launched on April 26)
What’s in the Silver Book?
The Silver Book pertains to:
· corporate social responsibility for the GLCs and
· provides the principles and guidelines on how organizations can manage their contributions to society in an effective and sustainable manner;
· its objective is to provide guidelines for GLCs to conduct their CSR activities, ensuring that there are also in line with their business objectives of enhancing stakeholder and shareholder value and corporate philosophy;
· it falls under item 5 of the List of 10 initiatives;
Besides this Silver Book, the other two initiatives being launched fall under :
Initiative No 4 : Programme for Managing Regulatory Environment (mid to long term basis)
Initiative No 10: Programme on the Framework for Continuous Improvement.
As we noticed, the focus with these launching of the Silver Book and two other initiatives would required the GLC to be more operations-based initiatives. It is hoped that with these launches, it will meet the aspiration of the Ninth Malaysian Plan and recently announced Budget 2007 and instill/reinforces the mindset of continuous improvement.
